AUGSD Member Application:
Access 97: Access Security

(submitted July 7, 1998)

Access Security is always on - even if you are not directly implementing it.  If you do not secure your database then any user could implement it and lock you out of your own application.  Incorporating security into your application is an essential aspect of developing an application.  At a minimum it stops others from locking you out of your own database or playing around with your code.

Below is the information used for the ACCESS SECURITY presentation.  First is the PPT Presentation that was used during the users group.  Next is a copy of the Microsoft self-extracting SECURITY FAQ document.  The final attachment is a copy of the Microsoft self-extracting Security White Paper. These two documents are invaluable in understanding Access security.  The presentation was based upon this information.

As with all info posted on this web site - you use it at your own risk and no guarantees related to accuracy nor correctness are neither implied nor stated.
